Bike shop owners, Wilbur and Orville Wright, were later to leave their shop and to create one of the greatest inventions in American history the first airplane, the Flyer (also refered to as the Wright Flyer). The first time the Wright brothers laid their eyes on gilders they were astonished. With their high intrest in the the idea of man soaring through the sky set them on a quest to make the first man piloted flying machine. The brothers moved to a open area known as Kill Devil Hills, south of Kitty Hawk, to start their new invention. The early models of the Wright Flyer were unsucessful because they didn’t fly, they glided. Atempt after atempt, the brothers worked endlessly revising and remodeling the plane. Then evetually in December 17 of 1903, the Wright Flyer was complete. Laeving the ground it flew for 30 seconds before landing. The same day after many trial attempts the Flyer can flew for a record of 39 minutes straight. The Wright brothers had done it, made history and to later change the world.
